Construction Operations Leader – US Hybrid
Mackinnon & Partners is looking for a Construction Group Operations Manager who will be accountable for overall construction operations. This individual will also be accountable for success of construction business development efforts and for successful project construction execution processes.
Key Responsibilities

Ensure proper quality and quantity of craft are available to support project needs.
Ensure that all assigned construction projects are properly staffed with the appropriately trained and skilled professionals needed to successfully provide the contracted services; coordinates with Market to staff projects.
Directs preparation of and reviews project construction execution plans for projects. When requested, develops construction execution plan for projects and proposals which minimizes cost and duration of construction activities.
Provides oversight during construction on all assigned construction projects. Monitors and evaluates reports on assigned project construction execution to division management, takes corrective action as necessary.
Ensures that all construction operations on each project site comply with the applicable Safety Manuals and the Firm’s safety and health program and policies.
Provides construction support to Project Executives and Project Managers. When assigned, includes risk assessment and cost estimating for proposals. Directs business development, including sales and proposal efforts for construction-only projects.
Ensures that all Projects meet the Division or Client specified quality standards.
Establishes and maintains relationships and develops a high level of trust and credibility with key clients, alliance partners, subcontractors, and project teams.
Monitors, evaluates and recommends alliance partners and/or subcontractors consistent with determined implementation plan.
Provides supervision, training, development, and performance management of direct reports.
Identifies and assesses improvement opportunities which will add value. Champions continuous improvement efforts. Assesses and supports the change management effects associated with the implementation of improvements. Proactively supports, encourages and facilitates staff to engage in continuous improvement activities.
Frequently visits sites or client locations as needed
Responsible for management and enforcement of Craft Employment Policies
Ensures maintenance and upkeep of required licenses
Develop strategies for executing direct hire open-shop construction in new geographical markets.
Coordinate craft labor between project assignments to retain and develop labor.
Responsible for contracts review and signature
Coordinate operations for projects
Drive strategy from Global Construction
Actively participate in client and sales meetings
Sit on the Labor advisory board
Guide Market Sectors in the appropriate construction solution decisions
Chair weekly Operations Meeting
Be the voice of construction in market sector/solutions
As assigned, Department Head responsibilities
Ensure instillation of our culture in all our project teams.
Ensure project successful performance
Be an active member of the Safety Leadership Committee

Management Responsibilities
Supervises work of others. Responsible for hiring, discipline, and pay administration of their subordinates.
Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in engineering or construction or equivalent relevant experience required.
20 years of construction experience including Project Field Manager and Operations Manager of one or more construction operations.
8 years of experience as a Project Field Manager and Operations Manager of one or more construction operations, and 5 years of U.S. Government experience and construction/field operations oversight, preferable with U.S. Government OCONUS programs, required.

Preferred Qualifications

A minimum of 10-20 years of construction operations experience, based on assigned area of operations.
OSHA, Risk Management, Project Management courses.
A minimum 10 years of open shop direct hire construction experience.
A minimum 5 years of experience successfully executing direct hire construction projects in a site manager or project manager role.
Ability to demonstrate previous experience working in a matrixed environment.
In depth understanding of construction means and methods that span multiple industries such as telecom, water/wastewater, gas turbines, solar, battery storage and LNG.

Work Environment/Physical Demands
Requires travel to jobsites for bid walks and other site visits to validate safety culture, schedule and cost performance. Expected travel is 50%.
