The Director, Operations Command Position

Sunnova Energy is searching for a highly skilled and experienced Director of Operations Command to lead and oversee all aspects of our organization's critical operational activities and National Operations Command Center (NOCC). The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in strategic planning, crisis management, and command center operations. As the Director, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring seamless coordination, efficient decision-making, and effective communication across various departments, teams, and stakeholders

Director, Operations Command Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership:
Develop and implement a comprehensive operational strategy aligned with the organization's goals and objectives.
Provide visionary leadership to the National Operations Command Center (NOCC) team, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and excellence.
Anticipate emerging challenges and opportunities, driving proactive measures to enhance operational efficiency and effectiveness.

Command Center Operations:
Lead the NOCC in real-time monitoring and management of operational activities, ensuring the organization's critical functions remain uninterrupted.
Coordinate resources, personnel, and technologies to respond promptly to incidents, emergencies, and crises, while maintaining a high level of situational awareness.
Develop and maintain standardized operating procedures (SOPs) for various scenarios to facilitate consistent and effective response protocols.

Crisis Management and Decision Support:
Act as the central point of contact for executive leadership during critical incidents, providing timely updates, risk assessments, and recommendations.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to analyze data, assess risks, and make informed decisions in high-pressure situations.
Develop contingency plans and mitigation strategies to address potential disruptions and minimize their impact on operations.

Communication and Stakeholder Engagement:
Establish strong lines of communication with internal and external stakeholders, including government agencies, partners, and regulatory bodies.
Coordinate with communication teams to ensure accurate and timely dissemination of information to both internal and external audiences.
Provide regular briefings to executive leadership and relevant stakeholders on operational performance, incident response, and emerging trends.

Technology Integration:
Leverage advanced technologies, data analytics, and real-time monitoring tools to enhance the NOCC's operational capabilities.
Identify opportunities for process automation, data-driven insights, and continuous improvement within the command center environment.

Team Management and Development:
Recruit, mentor, and manage a diverse team of operations professionals, fostering a culture of continuous learning and skill development.
Conduct performance evaluations, provide constructive feedback, and support career growth for team members.

Minimum Requirements

Bachelor's or advanced degree in business, operations management, emergency management, or a related field.
Proven track record of at least 8-10 years in operational leadership roles, including experience in crisis management, command center operations, and strategic planning.
Strong analytical skills and the ability to make informed decisions under pressure.
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
Familiarity with state-of-the-art operational technologies, data analytics, and crisis communication tools.
Demonstrated experience in managing complex, large-scale operations and leading teams through high-stress situations.
Professional certifications in emergency management, crisis leadership, or related disciplines are a plus. Advanced skills in SalesForce and Tableau

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s degree
Lean, Six Sigma training or certification
5 - 6+ years’ experience in an energy market
