Position Summary
A career at SJI Renewable Energy Ventures will provide the opportunity to join a highly engaged team leading the expansion of SJI’s renewable energy portfolio including renewable natural gas (RNG), Solar, Fuel Cells, and other business lines in support of its renewable energy goals. This position will be primarily responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Solar and Fuel Cell portfolio, newly developed renewable assets, and assisting in the oversight of the dairy RNG platform.
Essential Functions:
Oversee operations at all Solar and Fuel sites, aiding within the dairy RNG projects and interconnect sites (growing to 40+ across the Northeast and Midwest)
Develop and manage smooth transition process from development, finance and construction teams to operations and asset management
Oversee and manage third-party operations & maintenance contracts and equipment supplier service contracts, including establishing and tracking key performance indicators
Review performance reports, investigate issues and create initiatives to improve financial and operational performance of the projects; ensure compliance by company personnel and vendors with all policies, procedures, and applicable governmental regulations
Develop short-term and long-term project budgets in conjunction with O&M service provider, and continually review budgets to adjust for actual conditions compared to original assumptions
Responsible for project P&L, ensuring performance at or above forecast, and reporting out on results and operational drivers for variances
Manage relationships with project stakeholders including landowners, utilities, regulatory entities, and service providers; manage and resolve contractual, regulatory, and commercial issues as they arise
Coordinate with accounting to ensure timely payments, accuracy of billing and revenue and expense allocations; coordinate with environmental team on permit requirements and incident response
Travel to project sites will be required on a periodic basis
Qualifications
Required Skills:
Proficiency with Microsoft suite; Word, Excel, Project, Outlook, and PowerPoint
Strong understanding of project finance, legal contracts, accounting, and contract/warranty negotiations
Knowledge of the RNG/renewable energy market, and the ability to stay current with changing technologies, regulations, and trends influencing the continued adoption of renewable energy
Highly motivated, takes initiative, and has a desire to drive process improvement
Ability to learn quickly and work well under pressure, with excellent organizational and project execution skills, including the ability to handle multiple projects at once
Required Background:
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Management, or Engineering with 5 years of relevant experience, or;
Master’s degree with 3 years of relevant experience
Equivalent work experience may be considered in lieu of degree
Preferred Skills:
Understanding of integrated plant operations and prior operational experience
Preferred Background:
Experience with asset management software tools or other similar software tools
