Description
Sortera Technologies brings state-of-the-art artificial intelligence, image/data analytics, and advanced sensors to the industrial scrap metal recycling and reuse industry. Our fast-growing organization is on a mission to create high purity recycled, (and up-cycled!) metal feedstocks from existing scrap streams, and enable the domestic supply of metals and alloys ready for use for high-quality domestic manufacturing, helping to boost the strength of the circular economy.
In collaboration with the Vice President of Commercialization, the Non-Ferrous Metals Trader is responsible for buying and trading of scrap metal products. They are also required to develop and maintain outstanding business relationships with new and current customers. This position requires a self-motivated individual who thrives in a dynamic work environment and enjoys working closely with various departments within the company, as well as customers and suppliers.
This opportunity offers ability to help build a company from a Technology R&D Company to a high-volume mass production company looking to disrupt the mixed materials market, initially in the Aluminum space and potentially many other mixed material spaces. Sortera Technologies is focused on leveraging the strong IP position in sorting with Artificial Intelligence combined with sensors to take sorting to the next level while capitalizing on the strong aluminum demand that is approaching the North American market.
Responsibilities
Achieve plant KPI targets for safety, production, quality, financial, human resources, and environmental metrics
Provide leadership, development, and succession planning for the plant management team
Responsible for maintaining and enhancing employee safety performance and environmental compliance
Ensure all products conform with quality and delivery specifications as well as customer expectations
Drive and achieve sustained continuous improvement activities and results using Lean, Six Sigma, and other tools
Proactively manage all facility and equipment Capex projects to improve manufacturing reliability and robustness
Implement and share best practices and proactively support corporate wide activities
Promote and support community and employee engagement initiative
Knowledge of Zorba, Twitch, Tweak, and relationships with scrap metal consumers
Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Industrial Engineering, or related field required
5-7 years of experience in sales/procurement of aluminum
Metal Sorting experience strongly preferred
Other Requirements:
Demonstrated continual career growth in positions of increased responsibility
Practical Lean Six Sigma experience
Demonstrated ability to earn trust and respect to lead and unify diverse team
Must support and direct work on extended work schedules in support of customers and/or other business activities
Ability to work weekend/non-day shift work to support equipment installations/repairs as needed
Valid driver’s license required for business travel
Key Competencies:
Excellent communications and analytical skills
Ability to lead under a variety of difficult circumstances
Strong understanding of business operations and P&L management
Advanced/Intermediate skill level with Microsoft Office Suite; Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Ability to interface with all levels of leadership and hourly personnel, customers, and suppliers
