We are currently seeking individuals with a demonstrated passion for safety and education to join our team as a Wind Energy Training Instructor. Our Instructors operate in the Safety and Technical Training Department of Sky Climber Renewables’ Tech One Program (TOP) - an exclusive wind technician development program built in partnership with the world’s leading wind turbine manufacturer, Vestas Americas.

Qualifications:

Willingness to relocate to Portland, Oregon.
Experience training others on topics such as: Working-at-Heights, Lock-Out Tag-Out, Electrical Safety, Basic Electrical, Basic Mechanical, Basic Hydraulics, Cranes and Rigging, CPR/First-Aid, Confined Space and Self-Rescue.
Technical/University Education degree OR a High School Diploma / GED with a minimum of 2 years of wind industry experience.
Global Wind Organization (GWO) and/or Wind Energy Instructor credentials.

Responsibilities:

Conduct classroom and lab training utilizing effective instructional techniques, practices, and following approved curriculum.
Provide training to build a foundation of safety and technical knowledge related to the operation and maintenance of wind turbines, including but not limited to: GWO (BST, BTT, ART) or Working-at-Heights, Lock-Out Tag-Out, Electrical Safety, Basic Electrical, Basic Mechanical, Basic Hydraulics, Cranes and Rigging, CPR/First-Aid, Confined Space and Self-Rescue.
Utilize training equipment, simulators, and aids in lessons.
Design training aids and mock-ups within your area of expertise.
Administer exercises and tests using objective criteria.
Maintain training records, files, and databases.
Perform routine maintenance, calibration, and repair on lab equipment and aids.
Coordinate supply requisitions and equipment repairs.
Ensure inventory and security of supplies, equipment, and capital items.
Supervise assigned employees.
Support fellow instructors with certification and GWO initiatives.
Stay current on GWO classroom instructor qualifications.
Enforce established policies, procedures, and safety practices with students.
Maintain a professional training environment in classrooms and labs.
Perform other assigned duties as required.

Physical Requirements:

Must be comfortable working at heights of up to 300+ feet.
Must meet specific weight requirements of tower ladders under OSHA and/or industry standards of 130 to 260 lbs. max, including personal protective equipment (approx. 30-35lbs).
Must be comfortable working in confined space(s).
Must be able to see and move throughout facilities, training lab and equipment, offices, to conduct training, resolve work problems and facilitate processes; repetitive motion activities will be involved.
Occasional kneeling and squatting.
Frequent climbing, walking, and standing, and bending.
Ability and willingness to handle repetitive weight up to 50 lbs.
Successful completion of climb test(s) and tower rescue training.
